The crown Chakra or the “Sahasrara” is the seventh chakra, located on top of the head. It taps us into our consciousness and aligns us with our founding beliefs and visions.
It unifies us with the divine source by helping us realise our true passions and life purposes.
For Instance, if you’re stuck in a career that you despise, the seventh chakra will help you muster the courage to let go of it, and pursue the things that you’re born for.
It is also referred to as Shunnya or Niralambapur, which translates as “A Thousand petals. It is associated with the colour “White” and “Deep Purple”.
Crown chakra symbol
A circle and a thousand petals blend harmoniously to form the symbol of the crown chakra. Its petals are of various colours, similar to a rainbow’s, but there’s no intermixing.
Some people also say that the circle in the seventh chakra’s representation is symbolic of the full moon.
Crown chakra power
The Crown Chakra has enormous powers. It regulates the pituitary gland, pineal gland and the hypothalamus.
Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of biology knows how essential the functions of these glands are.
The hypothalamus plays a vital role in our learning process, and also stores and preserves memories.
The pituitary gland, also known as the master gland, controls the functions of many other hormones in the body, including the Islets of Langerhans and Insulin.
This shows that the Crown Chakra holds paramount significance in controlling numerous neurological pathways that are in turn, connected to the entire body.
Our higher consciousness, wisdom, and emotional balance are dependent on the balance of this all-important chakra.
In the event of its imbalance, we feel detached from ourselves, and our surroundings, unable to form friendships, communicate with our family and spawn creative thought.
Our emotions, whether it is joy, pain or despair, are all interconnected with this chakra.
As long as our seventh chakra is in harmony, we feel enveloped in a state of oneness and perpetual bliss.
It gives us clarity about our future and propels us towards people and things that our heart’s desire.
It transcends us into a state of higher consciousness so that we can break free from the materialistic dumps of our lives, and attain spiritual ecstasy.
Crown Chakra healing
A Crown Chakra imbalance manifests itself as chronic fatigue, Migraines, a thirst for materialism, depression, lack of mental clarity, and greed.
You must take drastic measures to heal your crown chakra, and bring harmony to your life. Otherwise, the symptoms might worsen and lead you further astray into emotional destruction.
Meditation
Meditation is the easiest way to restore balance to your Sahasrara because it creates a link between you and your spirituality.
Practising Meditation on a regular basis in a remote location where there are no distractions can do wonders for you.
For a Seventh chakra-centred meditation, make a mental image of a purple coloured petal inside your head, and focus on it. In no time, your body will reconnect to its deepest core.
Silence
Why do monks spend their entire lives practising silence? It’s because it helps them to clear their mental capacities, and focus on what’s truly important, spiritual harmony.
The Om and Deep sounds are healing sounds, because they are, in actuality, sounds of the universe as it vibrates.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is also an effective remedy for the seventh chakra. Essential oils, especially Frankincense oil, provide relief to your burdened mind.
Steer clear of essential oils with sharp smells, such as lavender and rose, because they contribute to the hyperactivity of the crown chakra.
Reconnect with Nature
Spend a lot of time around nature, in sunlight, on beaches, and picturesque mountains. Our detachment from the universe first and foremost causes the imbalance of the crown chakra.
And what better way to regain that connection by giving ourselves to the loving embraces of Mother Nature.
