Couples that look alike are soulmates, sounds absurd, doesn’t it? But, there’s some science to back up this seemingly preposterous statement.
Before we delve into studies and research, let’s divert our attention to the celebrity world.
You’ll be amazed to see that most of the celebrities who’ve been with each other for a long time have a similar facial structure.
One particular example is Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Look at their facial structure closely.
You’ll see a lot of similarities.
Then there’s Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie, both of them have a squared shaped jaw, alluring dreamy eyes and a refined grace while conversing.
One reason why people with similar facial structures find solace in each other is that they feel secure.
I mean, come on, if my wife were Megan Fox, I’d always have trust issues.
She would have to reassure me a gazillion times that yeah she does love me, despite the disparity in looks.
I still wouldn’t believe her, though.
Also, when you come across someone who’s similar to you in a remote way, you are inclined to be accepting and inviting towards them.
Why? Because in some crooked way, you’re accepting your own body.
We all want to be treated with respect and love, but most of us are so steeped in self-hatred that we must first muster the courage to accept someone similar to us, to extricate ourselves from our loathing selves.
Most people who are insecure fail to accept those who share their flaws and imperfections.
But, once in a blue moon, it so happens that, through divine luck, your likeness towards someone grows who has the same attributes as you.
Love sure is mysterious, isn’t it? That’s what makes it all the more compelling.
Now, let’s move onto some facts and figures.
Science says that there’s something about your partner’s facial features that dictate the sustainability of your relationship.
A recent study, ‘Convergence in the physical appearance of spouses’ was conducted to determine whether couples who were with each other for an extended period had a physical resemblance.
Photographs of couples were taken for many years to test the hypothesis.
The results of the study were surprising, to say the least.
After 25 years of living together, an uncanny physical resemblance started to resonate among the lovers.
According to the New York Magazine, people search for partners that look like them.
I don’t particularly agree with this one though!
Whatever the case is, there’s some truth to the phenomenon of “Couples that look alike are soulmates”.
I, for one, would never shun the possibility of something suspiciously mysterious.
Because, in all my years, on this planet, I have found that love has a rhyme and reason which is impossible to explain, and yet it’s very much real.
But the ball’s in your court! The next time, you come across a supermodel, would you pass on her for someone who‘s more in your league? Probably not, but why not experiment for a change?
