Itchy Feet Superstition – Know Your Left From Your Right
The superstition surrounding itchy feet has been widespread throughout history.
Different cultures hold various beliefs regarding what an itchy foot might signify about a person’s future.
Itching, as a sensation, often plays a role in symbolism and superstition because it’s a peculiar, intangible feeling.
This means that an itch might not always arise from a physical cause; it could also be psychosomatic, suggesting that it stems from your subconscious, possibly as a warning of potential danger or an encouragement to seize an opportunity, among other potential messages.
For many people, itchy feet are just a minor and insignificant irritation. However, for those familiar with these superstitions, it could signify something more profound.
Itchy Feet Superstition: Left Foot
Itching on your feet has always been said to be a sign that you are about to begin a new journey or adventure, which applies to both feet.
It has been noted many times in popular culture, and you have probably heard the term “getting itchy feet” as meaning “wanting to get moving” at some point before.
However, the left foot has its superstitions when it itches.
The left foot is said to be negative and the right foot positive, especially for right-handed/right-footed people.
It is thought to have something to do with dominance and the connection between your brain and your physical body.
If you have an itchy left foot, it suggests that the journey you are about to embark upon will not be a pleasant one.
Lots of things will go wrong along the way, and by the end of it, you may not even have achieved what you set out to achieve.
At the very least, the road will be bumpy and you can expect to be knocked off your path.
Remember to stay adaptable and be ready for the challenges that you come across.
It should be noted that the term “journey” in this context doesn’t necessarily mean a physical journey, though it just as well could.
Instead, it could mean an emotional journey or a journey of self-improvement.
It could well be a journey of any size, too. Walking down to the shops is a journey just as much as a trip to the other side of the world for these superstitions.
You don’t have to travel the globe to learn the essential lessons, and the stakes don’t need to be high for the risks and rewards to be so.
Itchy Feet Superstition: Right Foot
The right foot is the more positive foot, though there is some argument as to whether this changes for left-handed/left-footed people.
An itchy right foot says that the journey you are about to embark upon will be a positive force in your life.
While the journey will not necessarily be an easy one, it will, at the very least, be a valuable experience for you.
You are very likely to get what you set out to achieve and will gain much more that you didn’t expect along the way.
A very itchy right foot indicates that you will have a very successful journey.
It could mean financial gain as a result of a business trip, but it could just as well mean weight loss from your dieting journey or a diploma from an educational mission.
Not that your journey has to have a set goal to be profitable.
Even a holiday abroad can have a positive value for your life if it gives you a new perspective through which to see the world.
Learning about other cultures and exposing yourself to new ways of thinking is often an excellent way of improving yourself and your experience of living.
Other Itchy Feet Superstition
Other superstitions exist about itchy feet, mostly based around where on your feet you are experiencing the itch.
If it is on the top of your feet, it is supposed to be a sign that someone is talking about you.
There is no judgment in the superstition – it’s just that your name is coming up in someone else’s conversation; it doesn’t tell you whether they are saying good things or bad things.
If it is on the bottom of your toes, it means you will meet new friends on your journey that will help you along the way.
Be welcoming to those that you meet shortly as they could become valuable companions to you.
However, if it is between your toes, then you should be wary of the people you meet in the new future.
They may appear friendly and to want the best for you, but they will hinder your journey with their selfishness and distractions.
In new age belief, itching on your soles can be an early sign of a spiritual awakening.
When your vibrations rise by taking in more cosmic energy, this can cause energy excitation on the skin all over your body, causing sensations like itching.
If you feel it in your feet, it relates to energy being drawn up from the Earth into your subtle body chakra system, so it could be a sign that you are drawing nature’s energy into yourself.
It should result in increased powers of intent and manifestation if you energies are clear.
Itchy Ankles Superstition
The superstitions also cover itchy ankles. When your ankles begin to itch, it indicates that you are in for a pleasant surprise!
It is said that this foretells great wealth coming into your life, perhaps through an inheritance or lottery win.
It could also signal a significant pay rise or promotion at work, or a substantial reduction or discount on your expenses.
Another belief is that itchy ankles tell of a wedding on the horizon.
Before you get too excited, it is not necessarily you that will be getting married, but you should keep an eye out for an invitation in the mail.
It will be someone close to you that marries, though it might not be someone that you wish well.
Thanks so much
my curious state is finally settled
Kinda curious as to what it means if the left heel of my foot is super itchy? It wasn’t covered and am curious.
I’m left handed so I’m curious how each side coincides with one another
